Contrast between 2 Dictators

Why is USA treating Syria and North Korea so differently?

The geopolitical world of recent weeks, 2 main “flashpoint” that is capturing everyone’s attention, is without doubt: North Korea and Syria.

However the destiny and treatment from USA of this 2 states can’t be more different from one another.

In East Asia, North Korea’s Kim is opening new frontiers with their negotiations with the South, as well as the highly anticipated meeting between the North Korean Leader, Kim Jong-un and US President, Donald J Trump.

Just today (or yesterday), it is announced that North and South Korea will be negotiating an official end to the Korean War, that had technically not ended, since it begun in 1950. The state of war had always existed between the two Koreas, and the tense relationship is evident at the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

This never ending animosity, is looking to end within a month; while Trump is being wary but optimistic of a good meeting with North Korea, to the nervy stares from Beijing.

However, in the Middle East, what looks like more or less the closing chapter of the 7 years old Syrian Civil War, suddenly went from pretty uneventful, to looking like it is about to trigger the 3rd World War, pitting Russia-Syria against provocations from UK-France-USA on the alleged use of chemical weapons on civilians by the Bashar Al-Assad’s Syrian Government forces. While on the same battlefield, Israel is actively attack alleged Iranian assets in Syrian territory.

USA also supported a possible invasion by Arab States led by Saudi Arabia into Syria, for relatively unknown reasons.

It is extremely interest how the stories had unfold between the two “enemies” of United States, and we will be watching carefully how dramas will unfold in the coming weeks.
