Ukraine Frontline Changes Report – Day 720, 13 Feb 2024
Russian forces captured a large swath of territory along the western road of the city in North Avdiivka, effectively cutting the Ukrainian forces in the rest of the city away from resupply and reinforcement.
Operational encirclement is now official.
There is still a small road off the Khimik neighborhood for their last chance to escape a full encirclement.
Its looking exactly like the situation at the Battle of Bakhmut.
In the southern frontlines of Avdiivka Front, Russian forces expanded northeastward towards the southern neighbourhood of Avdiivka City which Russian forces had captured.
Previously, Russian forces attacked from that neighborhood towards Optyne (into the small village along the main road to the Ukrainian stronghold in the former air defence base)
This confirms the development of a pincer movement, which threatens to encircle Ukrainian forces that are still holding out at the southernmost stronghold.
Russian forces captured the entire east part of Novomykhailivka, as per conceded by Ukrainian mapping.
The battle will now shift towards the center of the settlement.
Ukrainian forces at the beach head at Krynky of the Kherson Front expanded their control with the geolocation of a flag planted at the top of a water tower, signifying their presence at the location.
