Kashmiri Freedom Fighters conducted drone strikes on India Air Force’s Jammu Air Force Station | Lashkar-e-Taiba commander captured
According to a tweet by Aerospace & Open Source Intelligence Board (Pakistan Strategic Forum), Kashmiri Freedom Fighters utilised two drones to drop improvised explosive devices onto the India Air Force’s Jammu Air Force Station (Jammu AFS) at around 1am local time on 27 June 2021
The drones reportedly flew 14.5km from the border to the airfield at around the altitude of 1.2km.
According the official twitter account of the Indian Air Force, the explosions are of low intensity and had hit the technical area of the station. One of the bomb exploded on the roof of a building causing minor damage while the other exploded in an open area. However there were no damage to any equipments.
The drone strikes apparently is not limited to just the Air Force station, as there were reports of Indian forces firing at drones hovering over a military HQ in the Kalu-Chak Area of Jammu.
Indian Air Force aircraft (reportedly a Intelligence/Surveillance/Reconnaissance aircraft) is observed to be patrolling along the Pakistani-Indian border, between Punjab and Lahore.
On the ground, Ommcom News reported that Indian police and army joint team had engaged “terrorists” in the Parimpora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar district. The firefight took place after the security forces cordoned off the area to launch the search operation after intelligence about the presence of “terrorists” hiding in the area.
Most likely as the result of the operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced that the top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Abrar Nadeem Bhat, whom where responsible for a number of killings are arrested at Srinagar.
Lashkar-e-Taiba is an Islamist militant jihadist organization in Pakistan. It was founded in 1987 by Hafiz Saeed, Abdullah Azzam and Zafar Iqbal with funding from Osama bin Laden. Lashkar-e-Taiba was banned in Pakistan on 2002 and the Government of Pakistan froze its assets the same year.
