Myanmar correspondent
DPA is currently looking for someone who can cover what is happening over in Myanmar.
Interested candidate should be proficient in English, as all the articles we are publishing would be in English; but should be natural Burmese speaker as we would expect the candidate to be able to read and translate articles/news/press releases that are published in Myanmar (which are mostly in Burmese).
Candidate need not be based in Myanmar, although it is not fully clear if there is clear advantage to be based in Myanmar at the moment (safety reasons); have access to the internet, have computer (to write and access any collaborative/communication tools) and able to work full time remotely (work from home).
Most of the job expectation, would be to aggregate news happening across Myanmar – any interviews, enquiries, clarification with the sources of news should not be done in person, due to safety concerns.
As DPA have a Myanmar focus page, the candidate would very much be in charge of the stories we will be publishing in that page. The job is particularly important, as we will want to keep the world informed about the developments in Myanmar and help to keep Myanmar in the mind of the world as the sufferings and war rages on in the country.
The current allocated budget for salary: 250 USD/month
Candidates new to journalism are welcome to apply.
