Update from the Bakhmut Front: Ukrainian Defense Ministry shockingly reported that fighting is now in the area of Ivanivske, a town South-West-West of Bakhmut City.

Through Ivanivske lies the important highway to Konstyantynivka, a major forward deployment base. Losing control of the highway, would mean losing a major reinforcement and resupply route.

And what’s more concerning, is the Russians need not even attack Ivanivske directly to cut the road. They just need to swing north to the SW outskirt of Bakhmut to cut it.

In the North of Bakhmut City, fighting is raging at Pidhorodne and Krasna Hora. Particularly at Pidhorodne, should the Ukrainian defense fail to hold, and fighting spill over to Yahidne, then the resupply route to Slovyansk will be gone.

If both scenario happens, Ukraine will be hard pressed to make a tough decisions to withdraw through the only road left via Khromove, north of the Ivanivske route, or risk a potential encirclement of all Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut.
