[ Syria / Iraq SITREP: 1-7/12 ] Turkey threatens ground offensive if Kurdish forces do not withdraw

Update from Syria: Turkey’s President Erdogan had warned that Turkey will have no choice but to resort to a new ground offensive into Northern Syria to establish the 30km buffer zones between the Turkey-Syria border from any Kurdish forces operating in Syria.

Russia had reacted by opening negotiations with the Kurdish-majority Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a bid to convince them to withdraw in order to deescalate the situation with Turkey.

United States also responded by conducting joint border patrols in the NE parts of Syria with the SDF in order to prevent Turkish strikes on the SDF patrols.

While the situation is developing, Turkish forces along with the Syrian National Army (SNA) continue to exchange artillery shelling in the frontline around the Aleppo region.
